Welcome to Synth Patch, a service operated by Human Crafted LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our web application for creating, managing, and sharing synthesizer patches.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name
- Authentication credentials (managed securely by Clerk)
- Account creation date and last login time
User-Generated Content
When you use Synth Patch, we store:
- Synthesizer patch configurations (knob positions, cable connections, component states)
- Patch names, descriptions, and notes
- Audio files you upload to demonstrate patches
- Remix relationships (when you create variations of existing patches)
- Star/favorite preferences
Usage Information
We automatically collect through Vercel Analytics:
- Pages visited and features used
- Browser type and device information
- General location (country/region only, no precise location)
- Session duration and interaction patterns
- Referral sources
Note: We do not directly collect or store IP addresses. Vercel may process IP addresses temporarily for analytics aggregation but does not provide them to us.
Marketing Information
If you opt-in to communications:
- Email address
- Account status and activity
- Email engagement metrics (managed by Loops)
Note: During our beta period, we use a waitlist system. Once we open to the public, email communications will be opt-in only.

Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate Synth Patch:
Clerk (Authentication & Payments)
- Purpose: Secure user authentication, session management, and subscription payment processing
- Data Shared: Email address, display name, authentication tokens, payment information (credit card details stored securely by Clerk, not by us)
- Note: When you subscribe to a paid plan, Clerk processes your payment information securely. We never see or store your full credit card details.

Vercel (Hosting & Storage)
- Purpose: Application hosting and file storage (audio, interactive synth assets)
- Data Shared: All application data and uploaded files

Neon (Database)
- Purpose: PostgreSQL database for patch and user data
- Data Shared: All structured application data

Loops (Email Marketing)
- Purpose: Email communications
- Data Shared: Email address, user role, account status, and patch count

Data Storage and Security
Where We Store Data
- Application Hosting: Vercel (United States)
- Database: Neon PostgreSQL (United States)
- File Storage: Vercel Blob Storage (United States)
- Email Platform: Loops (United States)
How We Protect Data
- All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Authentication tokens are securely managed by Clerk
- Database access is restricted and monitored
- Regular security updates and dependency patches
- Access controls limit data exposure to authorized systems only
Data Retention
- Active accounts: Data retained indefinitely while account is active
- Deleted accounts: Data removed within 30 days of account deletion
- Backups: Managed by our hosting providers (Vercel and Neon) according to their retention policies
Your Rights and Choices
Access Your Data
You can view and download your patch data at any time through the Patch Data panel in the patch editor.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account through Clerk's account settings. Upon deletion:
- Your Clerk account is immediately removed
- You are automatically removed from email marketing lists
- Your patches and content remain on the platform for attribution purposes (original creator credit on remixes)
To request complete data deletion including all patches and uploaded files, contact us at hello@synthpatch.io. We will manually remove your content within 30 days.
Opt-Out of Marketing
- Update your email preferences in account settings
- Click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email
Export Your Data
Use the "Copy JSON" feature in the Patch Data panel to export your patch configurations.
Public Content
Shared Patches
When you mark a patch as "Public":
- It appears on the Explore page for all users
- The share URL is accessible without authentication
- Your creator name is visible on the patch
- Anyone can view (but not edit) the patch configuration
Remix Attribution
When you remix another user's patch:
- Original creator attribution is preserved
- Remix relationships are publicly visible
- You cannot claim original authorship
Children's Privacy
Synth Patch is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@synthpatch.io.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be announced via email to active users.
